Laptop Battery life could get much better in 2011

PC laptop manufacturers have wrestled with the issue surrounding battery life for years, not least of which because business users keep talking about how productivity can be hampered when the juice runs out. But some new models coming out this year may finally make “all-day” Dell d630 battery Dell inspiron 1520 Batteries life a reality.

Lenovo was the first to unveil one of these with the ThinkPad T420, an ultra-thin notebook weighing under four pounds. The company announced that it could stay on for up to 30 hours on one charge, provided the user had the extended battery, which is larger than the standard one. The standard one is a 9-cell battery that can go for up to 15 hours, while the extended one adds another nine cells to double the power.
Meanwhile, HP unveiled its EliteBook 8460p, which can go as high as 32 hours when you get the optional high-capacity apple a1175 battery acer aspire 5920 batteries. And it can stay on that long, despite a next-generation Intel Core processor and 14-inch HD display.
All that said, battery life numbers have always been inflated because they aren’t based on real usability tests, other than just turning the machine on and letting it function without so much as an app open. Hence, why it’s a bit more believable that Apple’s new MacBook Pro lineup announced last week won’t top seven hours of battery life, even at the best of times.
Still, Lenovo and HP have created business notebooks that should easily survive a full work day, and then some. Assuming the EliteBook goes a full 32 hours, that’s like flying to China and back with a little time to spare to check email.
At this point, neither manufacturer has said much of anything about when these battery life levels will be seen with consumer notebooks, but a 15-hour charge should be coming, if not this year, then almost certainly by sometime in 2012. Sub-$1,000 notebooks are already in the five-to-seven hour range, depending on the model, of course, so it’s only a matter of time.

Top 10-Inch Tablets Reviews by www.bestlaptopbattery.co.uk

Consumers should expect new tablet models to be released in the coming weeks. Samsung just unveiled its Galaxy Tab 10.1, an Android Honeycomb tablet that has the same specifications of the Motorola Xoom. HP is also set to release its TouchPad. These new tablets still have to compete with the dominating Apple iPad.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Motorola Xoom will both run on the Android Honeycomb. That’s not the only similarity that the two Android tablets have. They both have a 10.1 inch screen with a native resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels; dual core 1 GHz processor; and a 2 megapixel front camera.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Xoom differ with their rear cameras. The Xoom has a 5 megapixel camera while the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has an 8 megapixel camera. The Samsung tablet is thinner and lighter than the Motorola one.
Apple is also expected to release a new version of the iPad that will include new features such as faster processor, dual camera, and more RAM. There are talks that the iPad 2 will also be available on Verizon Wireless.
Prices for the new 10-inch tablets are still unknown. Samsung, Motorola, HP, and Apple are still mum on how much their new tablets will cost.
Meanwhile, the first generation Next tablet webpage has not revealed more information and refers to an “Arm 11″ processor. However, the specifications sheet for the first generation 10-inch tablet was shown last year. The device weighs 625g, and comes with 1024×600 resolution WXGA LCD touchscreen, be powered by a 1GHz LNX Code 11 processor with 256MB of DDR2 RAM as well as 2GB of internal storage. Laptop Battery tips for repair a 'smart' battery

Some basic rules must be followed in repairing a 'smart' battery. If the cells are weak, cell replacement makes economic sense. While Nickel-based cells are readily available, Lithium-ion cells are not sold on the open market. Most manufactures offer them only in a completed HP pavilion dv6000 Battery hp dv2000 battery pack, together with protection circuit. This precaution is understandable when considering the danger of explosion and fire if the cells are assembled in a careless way. Always replace the pack with the same chemistry cells.sony vgp-bps2c laptop battery
During cell replacement, the circuit of many 'smart' batteries must be kept alive with a supply voltage. Disconnecting the circuit, if only for a fraction of a second, can erase vital data and render the circuit unusable. To assure continued operation when changing the cells, connect a secondary voltage through a 100 Ohm resistor before disconnecting the cells. Remove the secondary supply only after the circuit is fed with the needed operating voltage from the new cells.
The open terminal voltages of the replacement cells should be within 10% of each other. Welding the cells is the only reliable way to get dependable service. Attention must be paid in limiting the heat transferred to the cells during welding. Excess heat can damage the cells.
During storage, each cell has self-discharged to a different charge level. This is especially important on Nickel-metal-hydride. To assure proper charge of all cells without overcharging some, trickle charge the newly repaired pack for about 14 hours, then apply a charge, discharge and charge cycle. Such a cycle is also needed to reset the battery's fuel gauge circuit. Lithium-ion can accept a normal charge lasting about 3 hours. The Cadex C7000 Series dell vostro 1000 battery Dell latitude d630 laptop battery analyzers feature a program that performs this priming function automatically.
Once the connection to the battery terminals is established, charging should be possible. If the charge current stops after 30 seconds, a digital code may be required. Some battery manufacturers go as far as to add a defined end-of-life switch. If a preset age, cycle count or capacity is surpassed, the battery stops functioning. When asking why such codes are added, the manufacturers explain that enduring safety can only be guaranteed if the battery is tamper-free and well performing. This makes common sense but the leading motive may be pricing. In the absence of competition, replacement batteries can be sold at a premium price. Newer Dell latitude c400 batteries dell kd476 battery are generally more service friendly than older ones. http://www.bestlaptopbattery.co.uk

It is recommended to utilize the thermistor during charge and discharge to protect the battery against over heating. The thermistor can be measured with the Ohmmeter. The most common thermistors are the 10 Kilo Ohm NTC type, which read 10kOhm at 20°C (68°F). NTC stands for negative temperature coefficient, meaning that the resister decreases with rising temperature. A positive temperature coefficient (PCT) will increase the resistance. Warming the battery with your hand may be sufficient to detect a change in resistor value.
An SMBus battery contains permanent and temporary data. The permanent data is programmed into the battery at time of manufacturing and includes battery ID number, battery type, serial number, manufacturer's name, and date of manufacture. The temporary data is acquired during use and consists of cycle count, user pattern and maintenance requirements. Some of this information is renewed during the life of the battery.

Tricks to Increase the Notebook Battery Life

How many of you out there know about proper laptop battery care? There are so many urban legends and myths regarding batteries that it is hard to know what is real and what is not.
Make Use Of  had an article Tricks To Increase Laptop’s Battery Life
which mentioned a  number of useful tips. This time we introduce to a rather different app called BatteryCare which can help you understand the ways of battery guruness….is that a word? Probably not but hey it sounds good!
Laptops original batteries are really expensive to buy a new one. If you don't take care of your laptop batteries after just finishing the warranty date they are going to be useless.
Laptops are getting better, faster, lighter day by day. Only one thing still remains "frozen": the battery. Progress in developing a revolutionary battery, lighter, with increased capacity, low cost, RoHS compliant and compatible with most laptops around the world is painstakingly slow. Other features found in laptops and notebooks can help users increase their battery's life, but sooner or later, the battery is going to run dry.
  • One of the tricks is to use the energy saving mode.
  • Decrease the resolution of the notebook to the limit, that it is comfotable to read text from it.
  • When the notebook is not in use, let the notebook be on stand-by mode.
  • Turn off the peripherals, which you are currently not using like the digital camera, etc. These peripherals, although not in use, pull energy from the notebook battery.
  • Try to use the notebook in cool temperature. When the temperature is hot, the battery loses its charge early.
  • When the notebook is not in use, remove the battery from the notebook. This increases the life of the batteries.
If possible, use virtual drives instead of real ones as the optical drives are bigger power consumers than the hard drives.
Do not leave a charged battery unused for a very long time. Once charged, a battery should slowly be used but not completely dried up as that would deteriorate it. Use the hibernate function as that would save the state of your system and then shut down the entire laptop, instead of stand-by which only lowers power consumption. Because laptops are more efficient when they are cooler try and keep the temperature down by cleaning air venting holes and coolers.
If your operating system supports it (and most do), optimize the power usage through a control panel like "Power Options" in Windows. Multitasking capabilities are nice but they are draining the battery quickly, so set your mind on the most important task and postpone everything else.
Hope it will help you please give comment to share your opinion.

Top 5 Best Businesses Laptops On The Go by www.bestlaptopbattery.co.uk

Buying a laptop to fit your business is officially no longer easy. Previously unimaginable technologies and intense competition have spawned a new generation of business-class portable computers, each vying for a niche in the small-business world.

Best small-business apple portable

MacBook Pro, 15 inch, 2.4GHz
For Mac lovers, entry-level Apple portables like the MacBook or slick ultralights like the MacBook Air can be the perfect mobile business solution.Best small-business apple portable
But the Air's limited keyboard, small screen size and lack of optical drives mean you'll need extra peripherals, which jacks up the price. The smart Apple(Apple a1185 Battery, apple a1175 battery ) mobile buy right now, though pricey, is the entry-level, full-featured, 15-inch MacBook Pro. That single box is all you'll need.
The stock 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM stoke enough horsepower for most work, save heavy graphics. Toss in an extra $150 for Microsoft Office Mac Home and Student Edition, and you have a legit desktop replacement that can go anywhere.

Most stylish entry-level notebook

Dell Vostro V13

There's nothing like a PC entrepreneur in free fall to spur innovation. But Dell's harrowing collapse of market share is producing one heck of a line of business PCs, particularly its new Vostro V13, which has 2GB of RAM, a 13-inch screen, a well-designed, 4-pound form factor and--dare we say it--a real feel for good design.
Most stylish entry-level notebook
The metal hinges, subtle arrangement of media connectors and good use of color give this Vostro real panache. Nobody will need to know that you spent less than the price of an unlocked cell phone for a full-power portable PC.

Best midpriced portable with support plan

Sony VAIO VPCS111FM/S from Best Buy
For high-touch service, most small-biz types lean to Apple and its national network of more than 200 stores and Genius Bars. But Best Buy gets our vote for sleeper small-business service provider. The company has its own branded notebook PC line, dubbed Blue Label, and the Sony Vaio is the pick of that line.
Best midpriced portable with support plan
Its magnesium case, backlit keys and punchy and crisp 13-inch screen make this unit a real steal--and its media-oriented processor, RAM and video card give it excellent performance power. Perhaps the only ding is its battery life, which averages a very average five hours. But Best Buy's pay-as-you-go Geek Squad can send out an expert who is just down the road from basically anywhere. Call it reassurance on the fly.

Best netbook

HP Mini 311
Samsung, Dell and Sony make solid low-end netbooks. But the nod for the ultramobile entrepreneur goes to Hewlett-Packard and its classic Mini 311. The 11.6-inch screen, nearly full-size keyboard, HDMI outputs and Windows 7 OS make this the mobile weapon of choice for the business user seeking that netbook vibe.Best netbook

Keep in mind, netbooks as a family have no CD or media drives and only work well for basic cloud-based business software—like running Google Apps, for example. But if that's all you need, there is no reason not to go with a Mini 311.

Best value desktop replacement

Toshiba Tecra M11
Most buyers overspend to get a notebook that will do away with their desktop, and then only move around with it once or twice a year.Best value desktop replacement
Toshiba hits the spot just right with the Tecra M11 series. Done in a grime-reducing, high-quality charcoal finish with a surprisingly nice 14-inch screen, the M11 is just big enough to do real work at the airport yet has enough processor oomph (from a choice of the Intel Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7) to drive a full keyboard and monitor back in the office.
You can overwork the M11 with serious computation, graphics and engineering software, so this box is not a do-anything office workhorse. But for a reasonable spend, you get a solid, all-around desk PC that also struts its stuff on the go.
