Need to Know 8 Things That Suck About the iPad

A lot of people at Gizmodo are psyched about the iPad. Not me! My god, am I underwhelmed by it. It has some absolutely backbreaking failures that will make buying one the last thing I would want to do.
Apple iPad Review
Big, Ugly Bezel
Have you seen the bezel on this thing?! It'shuge! I know you don't want to accidentally input a command when your thumb is holding it, but come on.
No Multitasking
This is a backbreaker. If this is supposed to be a replacement for netbooks Dell studio 1535 battery,Dell studio 1737 Laptop Battery, how can it possibly not have multitasking? Are you saying I can't listen to Pandora while writing a document? I can't have my Twitter app open at the same time as my browser? I can't have AIM open at the same time as my email? Are you kidding me? This alone guarantees that I will not buy this product.
No Cameras
No front facing camera is one thing. But no back facing camera either? Why the hell not? I can't imagine what the downside was for including at least one camera. Could this thing not handle video iChat?hp nc6400 battery
Touch Keyboard
So much for Apple revolutionizing tablet inputs; this is the same big, ugly touchscreen keyboard we've seen on other tablets, and unless you're lying on the couch with your knees propping it up, it'll be awkward to use.
Apple iPad Review
No HDMI Out
Want to watch those nice HD videos you downloaded from iTunes on your TV? Too damned bad! If you were truly loyal, you'd just buy an AppleTV already.
The Name iPad
Get ready for Maxi pad jokes, and lots of 'em!
No Flash
No Flash is annoying but not a dealbreaker on the iPhone and iPod Touch. On something that's supposed to be closer to a netbook or laptop? It will leave huge, gaping holes in websites. I hope you don't care about streaming video! God knows not many casual internet users do. Oh wait, nevermind, they all do.
Adapters, Adapters, Adapters
So much for those smooth lines. If you want to plug anything into this, such as a digital camera, you need all sorts of ugly adapters. You need an adapter for USB for god's sake.
Update: Why stop at 8? Here are more things we are discovering that suck about the iPad.
It's Not Widescreen
Widescreen movies look lousy on this thing thanks to its 4:3 screen, according to Blam, who checked out some of Star Trek on one. It's like owning a 4:3 TV all over again!
Doesn't Support T-Mobile 3G
Sure, it's "unlocked." But it won't work on T-Mobile, and it uses microSIMs that literally no one else uses.

A Closed App Ecosystem
The iPad only runs apps from the App Store. The same App Store that is notorious for banning apps for no real reason, such as Google Voice. Sure, netbooks might not have touchscreens, but you can install whatever software you'd like on them. Want to run a different browser on your iPad? Too bad!

Tricks to Increase the Notebook Battery Life

How many of you out there know about proper laptop battery care? There are so many urban legends and myths regarding batteries that it is hard to know what is real and what is not.
Make Use Of  had an article Tricks To Increase Laptop’s Battery Life
which mentioned a  number of useful tips. This time we introduce to a rather different app called BatteryCare which can help you understand the ways of battery guruness….is that a word? Probably not but hey it sounds good!
Laptops original batteries are really expensive to buy a new one. If you don't take care of your laptop batteries after just finishing the warranty date they are going to be useless.
Laptops are getting better, faster, lighter day by day. Only one thing still remains "frozen": the battery. Progress in developing a revolutionary battery, lighter, with increased capacity, low cost, RoHS compliant and compatible with most laptops around the world is painstakingly slow. Other features found in laptops and notebooks can help users increase their battery's life, but sooner or later, the battery is going to run dry.
  • One of the tricks is to use the energy saving mode.
  • Decrease the resolution of the notebook to the limit, that it is comfotable to read text from it.
  • When the notebook is not in use, let the notebook be on stand-by mode.
  • Turn off the peripherals, which you are currently not using like the digital camera, etc. These peripherals, although not in use, pull energy from the notebook battery.
  • Try to use the notebook in cool temperature. When the temperature is hot, the battery loses its charge early.
  • When the notebook is not in use, remove the battery from the notebook. This increases the life of the batteries.
If possible, use virtual drives instead of real ones as the optical drives are bigger power consumers than the hard drives.
Do not leave a charged battery unused for a very long time. Once charged, a battery should slowly be used but not completely dried up as that would deteriorate it. Use the hibernate function as that would save the state of your system and then shut down the entire laptop, instead of stand-by which only lowers power consumption. Because laptops are more efficient when they are cooler try and keep the temperature down by cleaning air venting holes and coolers.
If your operating system supports it (and most do), optimize the power usage through a control panel like "Power Options" in Windows. Multitasking capabilities are nice but they are draining the battery quickly, so set your mind on the most important task and postpone everything else.
Hope it will help you please give comment to share your opinion.

IPad 2 Today News - Lowered Production Targets for Second Generation iPad

An interesting piece of news was released by Digitimes this morning: while the iPad 2 is about
to hit store shelves, the device may prove to be difficult to find, as a combination of last minute product changes and component shortages will apparently lead to lower-than-expected amounts of units available at launch.
The iPad 2 production plans haven’t changed though, as the company’s subcontractors already started producing mass quantities of second generation iPads. However, touch panels yields are allegedly lackluster, and forced the Cupertino-based company to revise its forecast, from about 500,000 units on hand shortly after the introduction of the device, to only about 350,000. Interestingly enough, the exact same issue led to massive first generation iPad shortages back in 2010.
The lowered output could also be related to the fact that the iPad 3 launch plans have allegedly been accelerated, in order to allow Apple to better compete against the slew of dual-core tablets about to be launched.
Meanwhile, Apple also lowered its first generation iPad production output, in order to get rid of current first generation iPad stocks, given the imminent launch of the iPad 2.
The iPad 2 is expected to come with several improvements over the first generation iPad, such as a thinner design, a rear camera for taking pictures, a front camera to allow the iPad 2 to be compatible with FaceTime, as well as a larger, more powerful speaker.
While the device is expected to sport more memory, the iPad 2′s CPU should be very similar to the one found in the first generation iPad, albeit clocked at a higher speed. The device should also come with a better quality screen, but its resolution will be the same as the one offered by  the first generation iPad display, 1024×768.

Apple Technology - Apple Patent Could Improve iPhone Battery Life

Apple like everyone else, is looking to increase the battery life of its mobile devices. The lithium-ion battery found in current model iPhones takes up a large amount of space yet still often fails to meet our power-hungry needs. A patent revealed by AppleInsider could mean that better batteries are in the works.
apple iphone patent better battery life high density
Apple's idea is to make current batteries hold more energy without increasing their size. High-density power cells would also up energy density without increasing charging times or reducing minimum life cycle. A charging technique described as multi-step constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) would be used to achieve this higher energy density.
Apple plans to implement a multi-stage charging process that would be compatible with the new high-density battery design. By adjusting the charge rate as the battery becomes more full, battery life can be optimized regardless of temperature changes or the charge state of the battery. The patent, titled "Increasing Energy Density in Rechargeable Lithium Battery Cells," was first filed in August 2009 with the US Patent and Trademark Office.300px IPad 022 Apple’s Technology’s Leverage against Other iPad Competitions
Aside from increasing the capacity of existing batteries, Apple is also excited by the prospect of smaller batteries that provide more power. Any extra space inside mobile devices can be used to pack more features into a smaller form factor. Consumers are demanding more from their mobile devices and battery power is a major stumbling block for manufacturers.
There's no telling when a high-density lithium-ion battery might make it into future iPhones, or even other products such as MacBooks and iPads. Apple will be sure to let everyone know if and when these designs make it into a production device.
When Apple has made the iPod in 2001, there have been endless competitors and imitators showing up in the market. But due to the versatility and technology of the product, Apple has won. However, as Apple had launched another gadget, the iPad, the same war would seem to repeat again.
This was what CNET.com Senior Editor for Portable Entertainment Donald Bell held in opinion in his blog. He enumerated on the iPad’s many features and how it has leveraged the product and its’ technology from among its main competitors like Motorola and Google. According to him, Google of all Apple’s competitors are making the closest steps.
Aple’s iPad is said to last for ten hours of browsing the web on Wi-Fi, listening to music or watching video. This time would be one hour shorter when browsing is performed via 3G networks. RIM’s hesitation of providing official figures has been considered as an argument for those who believe that the PlayBook’s battery would not match in any case the iPad’s longevity.

Will iPad replace the laptop? by bestlaptopbattery.co.uk

If you own an iPad – you don’t need a laptop. Although Apple designed it as a content consuming device, iPhone users are more creative and view it as a useful tool to manage and execute tasks outside the house as well. Thus, despite iPhone developers mostly concerned with applications that allow leaving the computer at home, you can see a Hollywood director using the iPad to manage the set, music magazines displaying the iPad as a production and playing tool and painters painting directly on the iPad.
The benefits in working on the iPad are plenty; it is lighter than any other Netbook, has a longer battery life (you don’t have to carry a charger around), the virtual keyboard does require some adjustment but responds quickly and working with only one screen prevents distractions. The question that remains is – how do we turn the iPad into a tool and leave our computer behind?
Get a better keyboard
The iPad’s virtual keyboard is good enough to be called “an authors dream machine” by Xander Davis – a games designer, author and musician. And still, if you intend to type a lot it’s better to invest in a real, quality keyboard. It is recommended to choose a light keyboard that can be thrown in the bag and it is important to remember that all keyboards work on batteries and so charging them along with the iPad is important. It is important to test the product in the store. The keyboard variety is large and you must feel comfortable with the material and shape of the one you select.
One option is the Dart Cheng keyboard reminiscent of the Apple keyboard. It includes a number of media keys to control the player functions. Another option is the iKeyboard that also includes a cover for the iPad.
