Google seems to be working on a Tablet to rival Apple’s wonder tablet

As reported earlier, Google seems to be working on a Tablet to rival Apple’s wonder tablet computer; the iPad. And interestingly we know that it does Flash too!google-chrome-tablet from http://www.bestlaptopbattery.co.uk
Now what adds more fuel to this debate is a recent report by the WSJ that claims that “Verizon Wireless is workingwith Google Inc. on a tablet computer”. The confirmation was brought by the carrier’s chief executive, Lowell McAdam.
Verizon Wireless declined to discuss details on the timing or the manufacturer of a such a tablet. Google’s role in the tablet wasn’t immediately clear, though Mr. McAdam mentioned it in the context of the discussions the two companies have about bringing new smartphones to market.

However, to the most of us this shouldn’t come as a surprise as Google had previously shown interest in bringing Android and Chrome OS to the market on a tablet computer and even shared a video mockup.
For now the details of the tablet are all under the hood but now with Microsoft Courier and HP Slate out of the scene, this is our only contender for the ‘iPad Killer’ but will it be? Also not to mention we have a Blackpad by RIM and Hurricane by HP in the pipeline as well.

Google to Start Charging for Prediction API

Socrates Wisdom Generator by bestlaptopbattery.co.uk
Speaking of the Google Prediction API: the company will start charging for the API, like good fortune teller should. According to its pricing page, the service will be free to users for six months or until the they reache a cap of 20,000 predictions - whichever comes first. Free accounts will also be limited to 100 queries and 5MB trained per day. After the free period Google will charge:
  • $10 monthly fee per project. A project is defined by a unique key on the Google APIs console.
  • The monthly fee covers 10,000 additional predictions per month. Beyond that, predictions cost $0.50 per 1,000 predictions. If you intend to make more than 40,000 predictions per day, please contact us. Google Prediction has an absolute limit of 60,000 predictions per day.
  • $0.002 per MB trained (maximum size of each dataset: 100MB)
The Prediction API gives developers access to Google's own machine learning algorithms to analyze data and predict outcomes. I'm experiencing a bit of Deja Vu citing Pete Warden in our earlier articleabout BigQuery and Prediction API for the second time today:
There's a lot of meat in the list of examples they give, a lot of hard-to-solve problems that would previously have required an internal engineering team to tackle," he said. "Imagine being able to get sentiment-analysis on all your customer emails at the touch of a button [...] or integrating product recommendations into your small e-commerce site with almost no engineering effort.Welcome to bestlaptopbattery.co.ukBestlaptopbattery.co.uk specialize in laptop battery 、 laptop ac adapter and camcorder Battery. Give your laptop a new life with higher capacity battery. Each model was engineered for maximum run time so you won't miss those important shots. We are a full service dell laptop battery distributor offering wholesale price to our customers.
Frequent ReadWriteWeb commenter Ed Borasky called it in his comment on that older post:
It all depends on how they *price* it and who the competition is. I can't imagine it's going to be free, and I can't imagine that other big players, like Microsoft, Wolfram, IBM, InfoChimps and Amazon, won't form partnerships to compete in this arena. As long as it's a "sole-source procurement" from Google, I'm not looking to spend any of *my* dollars here.

Microsoft reports of a zero-day vulnerability impacting Internet Explorer based on how it handles CSS

google logo by bestlaptopbattery.co.uk
Microsoft is investigating reports of a zero-day vulnerability impacting Internet Explorer based on how it handles CSS. The issue was discovered using cross_fuzz, a browser fuzzing tool created by a Google researcher who went public with the IE flaw because he believes Chinese researchers also recently discovered the same vulnerability.
Jerry Bryant, manager of response communications for Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing group, confirmed that Google provided Redmond with a copy of the fuzzing tool back in July 2010. Neither company found any issues in IE using the initial version of cross_fuzz, but this changed recently when cross_fuzz was updated.
"On December 21, a new version of the tool was reported to us along with information about a potentially exploitable crash found by the new version," Bryant said in a statement. "We immediately worked to reproduce the issue with the updated and original tool and are currently investigating it further to determine if it is actually exploitable."
Welcome to bestlaptopbattery.co.uk
In a timeline of the events, Zalewski writes that this is incorrect: "the current PR messaging from Microsoft implies that substantial differences existed between July and December fuzzer variants, and that the July 29 could not reproduce the vulnerability outlined in msie_crash.txt. This is inconsistent with my record."
The next day, Microsoft issued Security Advisory (2488013) confirming that the vulnerability impacted all supported versions of IE. Microsoft explained that the vulnerability exists due to the creation of uninitialized memory during a CSS function within the browser, making it possible for the memory to be leveraged by an attacker with a specially crafted webpage.
Details on the IE vulnerability are probably more widely known than Microsoft would like, especially given that the researcher in question, Michal Zalewski released the fuzzing tool to the public on New Years Day. It's worth noting that a Google employee has done this before, disclosing an IE flaw that could allow attackers to steal private information from online services. Then and now, Microsoft argued that details should not be disclosed publicly until a patch is available.

Microsoft argues that Zalewski has increased the risk to IE users since cyber criminals will find a way to exploit the flaw before a patch can be thoroughly tested and widely distributed. At the same time, Microsoft says it is currently unaware of any attacks trying to use the vulnerability. The company is actively monitoring the situation and may provide a security update on an upcoming Patch Tuesday (the next is January 11) or an out-of-cycle patch. Next week is a bit soon for a patch, and the company usually doesn't get fixes out on the next patch cycle. That being said, this time the company can't simply tell users to upgrade to the latest and greatest, since all versions are affected.

Who will be Best BigCo in 2011? -http://www.bestlaptopbattery.co.uk
Despite concerns ranging from privacy to de-emphasizing third party content, Facebook is a source of joy for many millions of people. It helps keep families and friends stay connected, enables users to track news from their social network, keeps people amused with games, and much more. In 2010, there was no other Internet company as influential as Facebook.
Runners-Up: Apple, GoogleHonorable
Mentions
Also Rans
After winning Best BigCo in 2008, Apple was a runner-up last year and has been very impressive again in 2010. The launch of the iPad was the highlight - another groundbreaking consumer Internet device that re-defined a market! Apple also released a new version of the iPhone this year, along with improvements to its iPhone OS such as multi-tasking. The new phone had technical issues with the antenna, but still sold extremely well.
Apple's App Store continued to dominate the mobile app market in 2010, although the Android marketplace is catching up. Overall, another great year for Steve Jobs and co.
Google has won our BigCo award 3 times over 7 years and never fails to impress. This year Google made great strides in the all-important mobile market, with Android making up ground on iPhone. It continued to dominate search, despite a big marketing push from Microsoft's Bing. Google showed that it can still innovate in search, with enhancements such as Instant Search. It also made progress in key markets such as enterprise (with Google Apps) and Internet TV (with Google TV).
Welcome to bestlaptopbattery.co.uk
Things didn't go all Google's way this year, however. Its innovative Wave product was farmed out as an open source project, the launch of a social media tracking service called Google Buzz was a flub, and Google had many critics in the privacy debate (for Google Street View in particular). Overall though, it was a strong year for Google - albeit with some speed wobbles.
Several traditional computing companies positioned themselves well on the Internet this year. HPand IBM both put resourcing behind the Internet of Things. Chip maker Intel made cloud computing a focus this year and also bought McAfee. It was a strong year too for Salesforce.com - its enterprise collaboration product Chatter was among our Top 10 Enterprise Products of 2010.
We won't go into too much detail with the 'also rans.' It was another disappointing year for bothYahoo! and eBay. It may be unfair to lump AOL, Adobe and Mozilla into this bucket, yet each of them struggled to make an impact with their various Web products.
